Target disses bloggers...or Tar-jay and va-jay-jays

We all love us our Tar-jay, right? Well, it seems Target isn't so fond of us bloggers, but it does lurve using our crotches as ad fodder (tip MY hat to Laurel).

I thought this ad was odd at first glance, but it didn't raise my hackles. A little bit of investigation finds that it was part of an winter ad campaign with models interacting with the Target logo in a variety of ways...this one is supposed to be making a snow angel. Okay, whatever. Hey, she's clothed, right? But at least one consumer advocate group was concerned enough to write Target. Here was their response:

“Good Morning Amy,

Thank you for contacting Target; unfortunately we are unable to respond to your inquiry because Target does not participate with non-traditional media outlets. This practice is in place to allow us to focus on publications that reach our core guest.

Once again thank you for your interest, and have a nice day.”

Oh, no they di'in't!

The bitter taste of unrequited love. If I'm not Target's core guest, who the dilly-o is?

  1. I love Target but this just doesnt go over well. First they werent a supporter of the military (considering I am capable of getting things shipped to my APO now Im assuming this may have changed) and now they dont support blogs. WTF, this is my life! Hmmm is there anything in their store I can not find somewhere else?

  4. You'd think that they'd be savvy enough to realize how much purchasing power bloggers command these days...

And what a generally rude response, too. Asshats.

  5. obviously they aren't as with it as their ads proclaim!!

That was some dumb dumb thinking on their part.

    Blessings,

  6. You should have used that exact line when responding. That's the language they understand and appeal to!

Overpriced discounted items deserve an overly dramatic degrading punch-line... Tell them you'll cut the slander by 35% with a correction... For a limited time only... (Increase it 40% first)

  8. "Big mistake. Huge" - to quote a line from one of my favourite movies.

I read several marketing professionals blogs every day - most smart companies are taking advantage of social media in some form or another.

I love Target, but it is yet another one of their policies that makes me go 'huh?'

  9. I'm already mad with Target over their return policy. I'm going to add this tidbit to the complaint and put them on notice. If they're not careful, they'll be dead to me.

  10. That's the last time I buy clothing from Target. Except big ol' granny knickers - so comfy. :P Thanks for the hat tip!

  11. Target is getting a leeeeetle too big for their britches. It used to be a nice place to buy decent stuff and a good price. I used to buy a lot of clothing basics there. Tees, jeans, etc.

Now they have Isaac whathisname who designs ugly shoes and clothing and they think they can overprice their cheap crap. I can't even tell you the last time I bought something there because first of all, their clothes are not practical, and secondly, they are cheap.

I don't want a t-shirt that barely covers my paunch, has sleeves that barely contain my batwings, and is see through.

I used to haunt Target, but now I rarely buy anything there.

To dismiss bloggers is a big fat mistake.
